Monographs of the Western North American Naturalist publishes peer-reviewed original research pertaining to the biological natural history of western North America. Typically, monograph articles are of a breadth and length that exceeds the specifications of the associated quarterly journal Western North American Naturalist. The Pacific is not only the world's largest body of water; its vast expanse also includes an extraordinary number and diversity of oceanic islands, from Palau and the Marianas east of the Philippines to Cocos Island and the Galápagos west of the Americas. The isolation of these islands and the extreme distances between them long prevented scientists from studying their floras and faunas in a.

The objective of this paper is to review statistical methods, dynamics, modeling efforts, and trends related to temperature extremes, with a focus upon extreme events of short duration that affect parts of North America. These events are associated with large scale meteorological patterns (LSMPs). The statistics, dynamics, and modeling sections of this paper are written to be autonomous . Moreover, other established risk factors including family history of depression were not assessed across the 66 reviewed studies and previous experience with violence was only assessed in two studies to understand suicide risk. 49,80 However, other risk factors such as older age and female gender were identified, that are also evident among non.

Phycologia 18(3): –, 2 figs. (R.L. Moe & P.C. Silva) Morphological and taxonomic studies on Antarctic Ceramiaceae (Rhodophyceae). I. The history of phycology is the history of the scientific study of interest in plants as food goes back into the origins of the species and knowledge of algae can be traced back more than two thousand years. However, only in the last three hundred years has that knowledge evolved into a rapidly developing science.

Mainly on the basis of the distribution patterns of 42 species of the recently revised genus Cladopkora (Chlorophyceae) in the north Atlantic Ocean, it appeared possible to distinguish 10 phytogeographic distribution groups of wide applicability.

Experimentally determined critical temperatures limiting essential events in the life histories of 17 benthic algal species were .
